The Bridge Program Celebrates 20 Years

In the fall of 2019, the Bridge Program at Antioch University Los Angeles will celebrate 20 years. Bridge, which provides University level education for students who may not otherwise have access to higher education, was founded in 1999 by alumni and faculty member Shari Foos with Founding Director and faculty member David Tripp.

Antioch’s Bridge Program Changes the Course of Janine Betts’ Life

Janine Betts comes from a family of educated women, but she says choices that she made earlier in her life prevented her from earning a degree. When she decided that she was ready to go to college, an opportunity with Antioch University’s Bridge Program helped her make her dream come true and even beyond.

Antioch Marches in LA’s 34th MLK Kingdom Day Parade

2019 marked the first year that Antioch University marched as a group in LA’s 34th Kingdom Day Parade. Accompanying the group of faculty, staff, students, alums, and family members was a twelve-foot-tall puppet modeled on the image of the distinguished Coretta Scott King

Bridge Program Featured in “The Clemente Quarterly”

The Bridge Program’s Service Learning Class (BSL) and Bridge faculty member Rosa Garza-Mourino were featured in The Clemente Quarterly, a national newsletter for those interested in free education in the humanities. Created by Garza-Mourino in 2011, the Service Learning Course gets students out of the classroom and into the neighborhoods providing an opportunity to connect classroom learning with learning directly within communities.

“A Very Necessary Party”

A Very Necessary Party was held on June 4, 2017, to support the Bridge Program, which provides university-level humanities education for students who may not otherwise have access to higher education. The fundraiser included both familiar faces and people for whom it was their first time to learn about Bridge.

9th Annual Artistic Uprising

Artists and performers of all varieties participated in the 9th Annual Artistic Uprising that raised funds for the Bridge Program on Friday, November 11, 2016. The Artistic Uprising is an annual celebration of creative work, critical minds, and community engagement in support of an incredible project.
